KUCHING, 5 August 2026 – SACOFA Sdn Bhd celebrated a significant milestone with its 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner, bringing together government leaders, stakeholders and employees to commemorate a quarter-century of advancing Sarawak’s telecommunications infrastructure and digital connectivity.
The gala dinner, held at Sheraton Kuching Hotel, was graced by The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Premier of Sarawak, as the Guest of Honour.
The evening highlighted SACOFA’s achievements over the past 25 years, introduced the Beyond 25 Anniversary logo, and launched its first commemorative Coffee Table book. The event also acknowledged the contributions of former Chairmen, Board Members, Managing Directors, Chief Executive Officers, employees, strategic partners, and stakeholders whose dedication has established SACOFA as Sarawak’s leading telecommunications infrastructure provider.
Delivering the welcoming remarks, The Honourable Dato Sri Haji Julaihi bin Haji Narawi, Minister for Utility and Telecommunications Sarawak and Chairman of SACOFA, reflected on SACOFA’s remarkable journey over the past 25 years and acknowledged the unwavering support of the Sarawak Government, strategic partners, telecommunications operators, customers and employees who have contributed to the company’s growth.
In his official address, The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Premier of Sarawak, commended SACOFA’s contributions towards expanding digital connectivity throughout the state and highlighted the importance of strong collaboration between the Government, industry players and infrastructure providers in realising Sarawak’s long-term digital aspirations. He reaffirmed that SACOFA serves as the state’s digital backbone, strengthening and supporting Sarawak’s digital transformation through ongoing investment, innovation, and collaboration.
SACOFA also continues to strengthen its network capabilities through its RM185 million investment on the Network Modernisation state-wide project, a transformative initiative that commenced in November 2025 and is scheduled for completion in 2027. As of the end of July 2026, 365 sites are ready for service, representing approximately 50% of the total 732 sites under the programme, while a further 367 sites are currently undergoing modernisation. This steadfastprogress reflects SACOFA’s commitment to delivering a future-ready network that will continue to support Sarawak’s digital transformation.
SACOFA also plays a strategic role in expanding connectivity through its 10-year partnership as the fibre backhaul provider for the rollout of the 5G network across Sarawak.
